Production of essential oils
Steam distillation, cold pressing, extraction
The most common method for obtaining essential oils is steam distillation.
This method is used for citrus fruits. The shells are pressed out in a single operation. The crude oil obtained here is an emulsion of liquid and essential oil. The oil is separated by centrifugation, and undesired particles are removed by filtration.
Flower oils are produced by extraction. For this purpose, the plants are placed in a solvent to extract all the flavors, waxes and dyes.
