Organic Eucalyptus oil globulus
The organic essential eucalyptus oil is obtained by steam distillation from the fresh or dried leaves and twig tips of the blue eucalyptus (Eucalyptus globulus). When we think of eucalyptus, we probably all think of the cute koala bears that eat it almost exclusively. The natives of Australia already recognized the eucalyptus’ effects. They treated fresh wounds by covering them with chewed eucalyptus leaves to help them heal.
In natural medicine, organic eucalyptus oil is known as “cold oil”. Its classic use is in formulations that are intended to loosen and remove mucus and secretions in the bronchial area. The organic eucalyptus oil is also said to support sinus infections, ear infections, or larynx infections. It is also credited with being an effective treatment against various strains of bacteria (especially impetigo in children, which causes large areas of eczema) and types of fungi that cause thrush, for example.
In cosmetics, the organic essential eucalyptus oil is mainly used as a fragrance in herbal and needle compositions and to perfume soaps, cleaning agents, and room fragrances. The antibacterial properties can be easily integrated into products against blemished skin. It is also found in insect repellent products (candles, room fragrances). Most of us, however, associate the scent of organic eucalyptus oil with fresh breath and oral hygiene. A large part of global production is therefore processed into oral care products (toothpaste, mouthwash) or for flavoring medicines.
Organic eucalyptus oil is generally not used for food preparation in the food industry. Confectionery such as cold sweets or drink syrups can however be flavored with the essential oil.
In aromatherapy, organic eucalyptus oil is valued to increase concentration and motivation. It is designed to help overcome a feeling of tightness and lethargy. It also has an encouraging effect on headache and nerve pain.
Organic eucalyptus oil goes well with Swiss stone pine, cajeput oil, lavandin oil, lavender oil, lemongrass oil, litsea cubeba oil, bay leaf oil, lemon oil, mint oil, peppermint oil, thyme oil, hyssop oil and lemon oil.
