Trivia
The olive tree can reach an almost biblical age of 1000 years and in the course of its long life usually becomes 10 to 12 m high. Its gnarled, furrowed bark and the silvery shimmering leaves are typical. It usually bears the first fruits at the age of 10.
In contrast to most other oils, olive oil is not made from the kernel or the seeds, but from the fatty flesh of the olive tree.
