Organic Perilla Oil
Organic Perilla Oil and Its Use in the Food Industry
The organic oil of the perilla plant, which is also called wild sesame, is not yet well known to us. Organic perilla oil from SanaBio is an excellent edible oil in the food industry. Use the exotic alternative to linseed oil with its subtle taste of herbs to make your recipe reminiscent of East Asian cuisine. Especially pasta and meat dishes get such an extraordinary note.
What are the ingredients of organic perilla oil?
The organic perilla oil is similar to the fatty acid spectrum of the organic linseed oil with a high proportion of essential, polyunsaturated omega-3 fatty acids, especially alpha-linolenic acid.
Trivia
The perilla plant actually comes from the mountains of China and India, but today it also grows in neighboring countries, the USA, Cyprus and Austria. The dish “Umeboshi”, consisting of ume fruits wrapped in perilla leaves, is very popular in Japanese cuisine. Far Eastern medicine from ancient China and Japan used perilla oil to regulate cholesterol levels and blood pressure in order to strengthen the cardiovascular system. Perilla oil was also used for acute gastrointestinal complaints and headaches.
The perilla plant, the basis for perilla oil, is an annual, herbaceous, usually half a meter high perennial. Their oval leaves are long-stalked, jagged at the edges and shimmer in green, purple to purple-red color.
The gray to brown seeds from which we obtain our SanaBio perilla oil with the help of cold pressing are located in the small white or purple flowers.
