Trivia
The organic almond oil SanaBio is obtained from the sweet almonds with the help of cold pressing. Another type of almond oil is obtained from bitter almonds. However, this bitter almond oil is an essential oil that must not be consumed due to its high content of hydrogen cyanide.
The almond tree is a medium-high tree with relatively weak roots. The branches are faintly reddish. The flowers are pink and sit in twos or threes on short stems. The fruits only ripen in autumn and are egg-shaped, about 4 cm long and 3 cm thick, gray-green, and hairy. The tough pulp bursts when fully ripe and reveals the clearly sharp-edged, brown seed. The seed is cinnamon brown, flat, about 2 cm long and usually around 1.5 cm wide. This seed is known to us as the almond and is also used raw or for making marzipan. It contains 40% to 60% organic fatty almond oil.
